learn ~ apply ~ revise
Join editors Dawn Alexander and Jessica Snyder in this 90(ish)-minute session.
The class kicks off with an open discussion about the common sentence-level writing issues Dawn and Jessica see in fiction manuscripts and why they are problems in the first place.
We'll watch a short scene from a television show then review an intentionally "imperfect" manuscript version of the scene, in which Dawn and Jessica will point out opportunities to elevate the writing.
Next, you'll take a few minutes to write the scene from one character's point of view (your choice which character you want to write!). Apply the tips you've learned to elevate your own writing.
Finally, we'll self-edit - or trade pages if you and friend want to share online document links - and ensure your scene is as tight and well-written as possible.
If we have time and anyone is interested, we may be able to do some live line edits of your scene as well. We'll see how the session plays out!
